Beautification After My Birth At Ur

The news of my birth fluttered like a white flame.
My amputated hand wandered in the reeds --
their tubes drew air and breathed.
I heard the lament of the reeds in a channel
and the bellow of buffaloes in another.

Then I pierced the tissue of the sky,
came to you and pressed your lips with mine;
and later when your sweet tongue departed,
I returned to Enlil´s realm
to play flute for earthworms,
for my joyous deities
who as they prayed kept repeating:
The tongue !  The tongue !

Embellecimiento después de mi nacimiento en Ur

Como llama blanca ondeaba mi noticia.
Mi mano amputada erraba en las cañas,
y las cañas respiraban por sus concavidades.
Oía su lamento y oía de lejos el mugido de búfalos.

Después, atravesé el tejido del cielo y vine a ti,
prensando tus labios con los míos
y cuando tu lengua azucarada se alejó de mí,
volví al reino de Enlil y empecé a tocar la flauta
para las lombrices del barro,
para mis alegres deidades que rezaban:
¡La lengua! ¡La lengua!
